In October 2024, we joined Queen Anne for a 7 night Atlantic Coast and Iberia cruise. Today we arrived in the beautiful Portuguese capital of Lisbon which is a port we’ve visited a few times before, but one we were still excited to explore again.

We started the day with breakfast at the Artisans’ Food Hall. We think we've got our strategy sorted in here now, we split up and headed to different stations, Laura grabbed the sausage baps and Lizzy headed to the other station for hash browns and mushrooms. This worked perfectly and meant that our breakfast didn't go cold whilst queuing for other items.

A Lisbon Tuk Tuk Tour

After breakfast, we disembarked and made our way through the terminal where there were a lot of hop on hop off bus sales staff and Tuk Tuk drivers offering tours. We had already discussed that wanted to try a Tuk Tuk, but we made the decision to walk a bit further into the city to find a driver.

We found a guide we liked the look of and agreed a price of €90 tour, there was enough room for 4 in the Tuk Tuk so we thought this was a good price. Our guide, Arial, was friendly and knowledgeable, taking us straight up into the hills for spectacular views of Lisbon. We visited two different viewpoints near the Grace Church, both offering amazing panoramas, including a clear view of Queen Anne docked in the harbour. We also stopped at a small rooftop bar/shop where we could use the facilities and browse local souvenirs.

After being dropped off near to the Time Out Market, we had a wander inside but it was absolutely packed, so instead we found a quieter café nearby. We sat outside in the sunshine, enjoying a drink and snacks before heading back to the ship.

Afternoon Tea in the Queen’s Room

As we arrive back onboard at around 2:30pm, the Queen’s Room was being set for afternoon tea. Despite not being tea drinkers, we decided this was the perfect chance to try it while most guests were still ashore.

The experience started with a lovely procession by the white-gloved waiters and a live band playing. Our section was the last to be served, so we did a bit of waiting, but it was fun to people-watch. Lizzy enjoyed all the sandwiches, especially the shrimp and beef ones, while Laura focused on the cakes. The scone with jam and cream was a highlight, and we were able to get a glass of prosecco instead of the tea.

We relaxed for a bit before heading to the Panorama Pool Club for sailaway. The live music and warm weather made it a great atmosphere. As we sailed under the April 25th Bridge, we were treated to a dramatic noise echoing from the structure and another beautiful sunset from Queen Anne’s open decks.

Testing out the Virtual Queue for Dinner

Tonight, we didn't have a booking for dinner and decided to join the virtual queue for the first time on this cruise. Dom joined the queue at 6:45pm, and our table was ready just minutes later. At the time we were enjoying cocktails in the Chart Room, trying the Zodiac drinks so we had to hurry to the dining room in time and were seated in the same section as earlier in the cruise. We found this worked quite well, but once again there was a period of slow service in the dining room before it settled down.

A Fun Evening

After dinner, we headed to the Queen’s Room for Made in London, which was a high energy production performed by the ship’s show cast. It featured music from famous British artists and the singing and dancing were fantastic, we all loved it!

We were on a mission to see more of the ship and try some venues we hadn't been to yet so we stopped by the 1840 bar next to the casino. The cocktail selection here leaned heavily on Negronis, which weren’t really our thing but would definitely be popular with some guests.

Our final bar of the night was the Golden Lion, where an Irish band was playing. It was packed, very warm and we had terrible seats but the atmosphere was brilliant. We stayed until closing before finishing our night in the late night buffet.

Another Memorable Day

We always enjoy spending time in Lisbon and we were so glad we did the Tuk Tuk tour which showed us parts of the city that we hadn't seen before. Afternoon tea, a great show, and a bit of a bar crawl made this one of our favourite days so far.
